AW2
The AW-2 brings autonomous finish welding to small and mid-size parts. The flexibility of the AW-2 eliminates the need for custom, rigid fixturing, and precise part placement.
Path Robotics leverages proprietary sensing and robotic AI to make intelligent welding cells that accommodate a range of part sizes. We use computer vision to “see” any weldment, locate it in space, and use robotic AI to autonomously determine and execute optimal motion planning.
At A Glance
Flexible Fixturing System
The AW-2 handles a huge variety or parts large & small. It’s modular and designed to custom to fit a typical human weld space.
Weld-Intelligent Path Planning
Automated path planning leverages built-in weld process intelligence to generate optimal path plans, work, and travel angles based on part’s size and location in space
Optical Part & Feature Recognition
Designed for high-mix, high part-to-part variability. No need for perfect parts or precise positioning.
Automatic System Calibration
The robot learns your parts, optimizes for quality and efficiency. A single cell can weld multiple parts, just like a human welder.

Autonomous Welding Functions
Autonomous Welding
Path’s intelligent weld cells autonomously plan weld paths with coordinated positioner motion, and execute high quality, uniformly sized single pass and multi-pass welds. Autonomous welding eliminates the need for traditional robotic.
Learn more about autonomous welding
- Autonomous Welding is limited to certain materials and finishes based on their reflectivity because we use optical sensing
- Supported weld types are limited to Fillets, and Single Bevels (with Multi-Pass Adaptive Fill)
- Joints are limited to T Joints, Laps and Corner Welds
- Welds rely on preconfigured weld programs developed by our team of weld engineers
- Only certain geometric characteristics are supported
- Parts must be tacked; maximum tack size is 1/8-inch (or half the size of the weld)
- Passes cannot be distributed among features; pause between passes must be used
Intelligent Path Planning
Path’s automated path planning leverages built-in weld process intelligence to generate optimal path plans, work, and travel angles based on part’s size and location in space, the part’s weld objectives, obstacles located near the part and in the cell, and the positioner system available in the cell. Built-in weld intelligence and automated path generation make robotic welding accessible by eliminating the need to program robots.
